Carlow Man Cured of Brain Tumor Jim was taking turns and his wife Angela brought him to the Doctor September 2006 and he was sent for investigation in hospital, They discovered in October that he had a brain tumor he had an operation later that month to have it removed, They discovered it was cancerous, they removed as much as they could with the operation but they couldn’t get it all because it was in the middle of the brain. They decided to try cymotherapy and radiotherapy but we were told it was unlikely that it would work because of where the tumor was, They sent him up to a Dr in beaumount who was very ignorant and didn’t see a point of them being sent to him because the cancer was to far in there and there was nothing anyone could do for him it was arranged then that he would get 6 weeks radio therapy in St.Lukes in Dublin and 6 months Cymotherapy after that. They had an appointment on the 24th August 2007 for another scan they said there was no changes and some questions on what time he had and had given him 6 months to live, they put them in touch with councilors the scan hadn’t changed at that stage, they went to the councilors and the whole family were prepared for Jims death and what would happen and his funeral and arrangements and suit for burring him in and all the clothes for the funeral, The children knew all along he had a cancerous tumor, they got the council ling as well to prepare for the worse, they were advised to tell the children of everything that was happening it wasn’t an easy time they had arranged that Jim would be waked in their sitting room at home which they wanted but there youngest son didn’t want this to happen in the house because it would be happening on his bed and he would never sleep in it again and he was scared of all the stuff that was going on, in the mean time there son Terry had broke his hand and they were coming back from Waterford we had heard Colm Keane author of Padre The Irish Connection on local radio and that Brendan Byrne would have the mitten of Padre Pio , and it was the first time they had heard of the mitten coming to Carlow, Angela had rang Brendan to arrange an appointment and got an appointment to get Jim blessed a week before he got his scan , his scan was due the 19th November, they were desperate at this stage it was a last resort and they taught it was a good thing to get blessed before his next scan, after the blessing Jim had being saying he had been getting a strange smell, he first got it in Brendan’s house and then when he was home, Jim didn’t know anything about Padre Pio, he would have known him as a name but that was it, His wife had said she wasn’t getting the smell and didn’t believe him as he was the only one getting it, Angela had gotten a set of Rose scented Padre Pio Rosary Beads and she had them away still in there plastic and in there box and decided to open then to ask Jim if that was the same similar smell as he was getting, and Jim confirmed that smells were similar so he had been getting the smell of Padre Pios roses so his wife knew then that he was telling the truth. They were called back for the results of the scan on the 5th November to the Doctor in Beaumount, they were hoping to see the Main Doctor and not just one of his team, the waiting room was packed, they were actually put sitting in front of the main Doctors room door because of the crowds. A junior doctor did come out and called Jim but she couldn’t find his scan in the trolley so she asked if we didn’t mind waiting and she would call someone else until they found the scan, so she called someone else and as she was passing by Jims scan results just fell from the trolley in a large folder onto the floor, the sectary picked it up and said to the Junior doctor that she had Jims scan, since the Doctor had called someone else Jim would have to wait till she was finished, Angela had been holding a Padre Pio medal and praying that something Magnificently would come out of this, next thing the head doctor came out and had taken Jims file and called them in just as they had wanted, The doctor threw his desk and bag out of the way and brought the two of them to the x-ray light machine and put up every scan that had been done from before , during and after the operation even up to the 24th August showing the whole left-hand side of his brain was covered with this tumor, he then put up the scan from November which was done after the blessing with the Padre Pio mitten, there was no sign of the tumor not a trace of it, he made an appointment for Jim to see the surgeon again because the doctors can’t explain how this has happened and they had them so prepared for Jims Death. It’s March now and Jim is doing fine and back doing a bit of work and they are both heading to San Giovanni Rotondo in August in Thanksgiving, They are putting the miracle to the interseccion of Padre Pio. Thank God and Padre Pio.
